Feeling disheartened

So, a bit of an update for everyone.

I've decided to pursue an MFA in Graphic Design. I know I'm on the verge of becoming a perpetual student, but hear me out.

I want to teach. Not right away, but someday. I want to teach in college, at a major university. So, I need a terminal degree. I could get a PhD in journalism, but my life goals are really about owning my own art and design firm and teaching design.

The MFA in GD really just makes the most sense. I want to design and teach, not research forever.

At any rate, I'm a little down on academia in general right now. At the moment, the administration here is trying to rearrange some TA positions. There's some infighting, some politicking and logic seems to have flown the coop.

What's most upsetting about it is that it seems like they're so busy marking territory that they're neglecting what's really in the best interest of the students we'll have next semester.

I'm not a perfect TA, but I work really hard at getting better, and really care about how to make my class better for my students. It's hard to be enthusiastic about this when it seems like no one else is.

Audrey!

I can't believe you didn't tell me this when we talked last! I totally understand changing your mind - it's your future, you've got to do what's best for you! I'm very excited for you, good luck!
